Privacy
Daarin staat alleen:
- een willekeurig installatienummer dat de app of browser zelf aanmaakt (het zegt niets over jou of je apparaat en verandert als je de app opnieuw installeert of de opslag van je browser wist);
- het platform en type apparaat (bijvoorbeeld iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Android-telefoon, Android TV of browser) en de modelaanduiding (zoals „iPhone16,2”, „Pixel 8” of „Chrome 129 (macOS)”);
- de versie van het besturingssysteem en de versie en het buildnummer van Tunr;
- het land en de taal die je in Tunr hebt gekozen;

No account, no tracking, no ad networks. Tunr collects no personal data and sells nothing on. Only anonymous usage statistics (no name, e-mail or IP address), and you can turn those off.
What stays on your device
Your country, region, language, settings, favourites, recent stations, followed podcasts, episode listening positions and searches are stored locally only: in the app on your device, and in the web player in your browser's storage (localStorage). We never receive that data.
On iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV your favourites can sync between your own devices through iCloud (key-value storage). That runs through your own Apple account; we have no access to it.
Anonymous usage statistics
To see how many people use Tunr and on which devices, the apps and the web player send a small, anonymous message at most twice a day. It contains only:
- a random install number created by the app or browser itself (it says nothing about you or your device and changes when you reinstall the app or clear your browser storage);
- the platform and device type (for example iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Android phone, Android TV or browser) and the model identifier (such as “iPhone16,2”, “Pixel 8” or “Chrome 129 (macOS)”);
- the operating system version and the Tunr version and build number;
- the country and language you chose in Tunr;
- whether you have ever used Tunr with CarPlay or Android Auto (yes/no).
What is not sent or stored: your name, e-mail address, account, location, which stations or podcasts you listen to, your favourites or searches. Your IP address is not stored; it is only used briefly in memory to limit abuse. No cookies are used for this, and the data is not linked to other sources or shared with third parties.
The statistics are processed and stored by Supabase (processor, database and server service). Data from an installation that hasn't sent anything for 400 days, and daily counts older than 400 days, are deleted automatically.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Anonymous usage statistics (in the apps and in the web player). Tunr then sends nothing at all. The homepage of this website sends no statistics.
Cookies and local storage
Tunr sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The website and the web player only use browser storage that's needed to work: your language, country and region, settings, favourites, recent stations and podcasts, and your choice in the cookie notice (as a tunr_consent cookie and in localStorage, valid for 12 months).
On your first visit a notice asks for consent. If you choose Accept, the web player sends the anonymous usage statistics above; with Necessary only it doesn't. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie button in the bottom left or Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
Who Tunr connects to
To play radio and podcasts, the app or web player has to connect to a few external services. As with any internet connection, they see your IP address and the usual technical details of the request:
- Radio Browser (radio-browser.info): the open community database the station lists come from. When you play a station, Tunr registers one click there so popular stations rise to the top. No information about you is included.
- The stations' own stream servers: the audio comes straight from the broadcaster or its streaming provider, not through us. Their own privacy policies apply.
- Apple's iTunes Search API (apps only): to find album art for Now Playing, we send the artist and title of the song on air, without any data about you.
- Apple's podcast directory (iTunes Search API and Apple's charts): to show podcasts, charts and episodes we send your search term and the country you picked, without any data about you. No Apple account is needed.
- Podcast creators' servers: episodes play directly from the creator's server or hosting provider; for a podcast's description the web player may fetch its public RSS feed. Their own privacy policies apply.
- CARTO and OpenStreetMap: map tiles for the world map (Android and the web player). On Apple devices the map uses Apple MapKit.
- cdnjs (Cloudflare) (web player only): the Leaflet map library and the HLS player are loaded from there.
- Station logos are loaded from the addresses the stations themselves listed in Radio Browser.
Website
This website uses no tracking or advertising cookies and no third-party analytics services; only the cookie that stores your choice in the cookie notice. Only the web player sends, with your consent, the anonymous usage statistics described above (can also be turned off in Settings). The web host may, like any web server, keep technical logs (such as IP address and time) for security and troubleshooting.
Children
Tunr collects no personal data from anyone, children included; the anonymous usage statistics cannot be traced back to a person. Note that station content is decided by the broadcasters themselves.
